DUMBO Community Centre & Rowing Club - New York/ USA
The idea of building a Community Center along the banks of the East River is part of the revitalization of Brooklyn. The project consists of a multipurpose space with connections that connect people to the programs. Ramps stairs and bridges make the physical connection. And the integration of different programs connects different types of people.
The building houses a sports center with heated pools, a rowing club with small boat piers and kayaks, dance club, library, rooftop exhibition space and a café. The venue is a great spot to watch the 4th of July fireworks in the United States and for this has a grandstand and public outdoor auditorium overlooking the river, the Manhattan Bridge and the New York City skyline.
The project was designed based on analysis of the terrain and the morphology of the city apart. Panel designs include structural, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems. And landscaping and logistic access to the land. In terms of sustainability, the building has a green roof, community garden, rainwater capture / reuse and optimization of sunlight.
